Description:
Fire danger is low to medium, depending on where you are. The creek is fairly low, but still has good flow. Soil tends to be dry on top, especially where exposed, but well-rooted plants are still getting the moisture they need from below the surface. Irrigating of the vegetable gardens is definitely necessary. Uncut grasses are sometime head high, and the stinging nettles taller yet. Most trees and shrubs are past bloom, but the mock orange is loaded with blossoms, and the ocean spray is just breaking buds. Roses have been plentiful this week, and there are ripe strawberries. Spinach has bolted, but the other greens are fine. The apple trees look like they have a heavy crop, and the apples are about walnut size. Bumblebees have found the viburnum, and we seem to have an abundance of fleas and ants. Grass is pollinating, and hayfever season is on. A doe near my garden didn't want to run from me one evening this week - wondering if her fawn might be nearby. The invasive blackberry is now in full bloom, and so is the foxglove.
