Notes
This is the first storm in a while that shows high levels of acid, just as high as during the days of Acid Rain. The reason? The fires in Canada. The smoke from those fires is turning to acid in the clouds just as it did several years ago with the California fires. The pH of the rain is very low at 4.52 and high in Total Dissolved Solids at 4 ppm adjusted for pH and 15 ppm as measured. "Normal" rain has a pH near 5.2 and 2 - 5 ppm total solids. Forty one (41%) of the dissolved solids was attributed to a strong mineral acid. The acid deposition rate over the area that received 0.75 inches of rain as happened here received the equivalent of 100 pounds of Sulfuric Acid per square mile. Not good for the trees or anything else.
